Ellis knew enough from years of Catholic school as a kid to immediately know what was going on, and too smart mouthed to let herself be apprehensive. "Great," she muttered to herself under her breath. "Let's just summon Satan. That's gonna help our case." When the corpse in front of Gabriel sprung back to life, possessed by Lucifer, she had to stop herself from jumping back, and instead stood in her place and stared down the Devil warily, her uninjured arm hovering near her gun and her feet stanced for action if needed. The brunette hunter gritted her teeth and expertly concealed her fear with an expression of determination.
She began to think how ironic her current situation was. It was almost laughable. Not more than half an hour ago she considered herself agnostic, apathetic even, toward the subject of God and Satan, and now the Devil himself was standing in front of them wearing a dead guy. What a day this was turning out to be...

As it wasn't a true possession, Lucifer knew he had to stay within the boundaries of Gabriel's spell to maintain the connection, but it was better than nothing. He idly brushed his temporary vessel's clothes off after standing, glancing at Ellis and Harley. "A human Hunter and a demon... really Gabriel?" he questioned with a smirk.

"Good, because I'm not completely sure either. I do know it's no thanks to you though." Gabriel retorted with a hint of bitterness. He gave Ellis a sharp look. "Will you keep your trap shut for a few minutes, please?" he said in exasperation before turning back to his brother. He shrugged. "They were the first ones I found trying to do something about this mess. I made do. Now, can we focus? The Darkness... you and I both know that she's bad news even for us Luci. I know there's a lot I don't know though... I mean, basically Dad made us and was like 'Hey let's fight this thing trying to destroy the world I'm trying to make k?' He was never good about giving explanations."

Lucifer folded his arms across his chest. "As I recall, it's you who told the Winchesters about the rings being the keys to my cage. I'd say we're even." he said coolly. He chuckled as he listened to him reprimanding the human. "Speaking of, where are our favorite Hunters anyway? I'm surprised you didn't run straight to them." he commented. He shook his head. "You're right, and it's because Dad was too ashamed of what he had to do to tell anyone the truth. I don't fear the Darkness Gabriel. I do have a healthy respect for her though. After all, she's family."

Ellis shot Gabriel a look that, roughly translated, read, "piss off". The last thing she was going to do was trust Satan with anything, much less the fate of the planet. He didn't exactly have the best track record with helping out humanity.
"You respect the Darkness," she repeated, turning her attention toward Lucifer, "so why the hell should we trust anything you have to say right now? I mean, this may just be me, but the whole thing seems a little sketchy. I doubt you're just gonna jump on board and help save the world." She narrowed her eyes a little at him, skeptical.

"Of course you'd think that." Gabriel muttered to himself. He rolled his eyes. "They were the ones who screwed everything up in the first place. Again. I don't feel like dealing with those muttonheads right now." he replied. He face palmed as Ellis opened her big mouth again. Slowly he looked back up at Lucifer. "What do you mean she's family?" he asked, hoping he wouldn't refuse to talk with them now.

Lucifer chuckled softly, but narrowed his eyes when Ellis spoke. "Respect doesn't equate to liking someone human. You should respect your enemies just as you would your friends and allies." he said shortly. He considered dropping the connection and letting them flounder around trying to figure out more about the Darkness on their own, but after a moment he just laughed. "Who said anything about saving the world? I'm bored more than anything and if giving you guys some information that I doubt you'll know what to do with gets me away from Michael's constant nagging for a few minutes, eh, it's worth it." he said, smirking in amusement. He turned to Gabriel and arched an eyebrow. "Do you think Dad just snapped His fingers and created the world? That's not how it happened. It took work, and most of all, it took sacrifice. There has to be a balance, so to create you've got to destroy something in return. So He sacrificed the one thing He could, the thing that meant the most to Him. His sister, the Darkness."

Ellis stared in stunned silence at Lucifer, processing what he had just told them. "God's sister," she repeated, rubbing the bridge of her nose where a headache was beginning to form. "So I guess we're looking at trying to subdue a deity then. Fan-fucking-tastic." As if stopping the Darkness from annihilating the planet didn't seem impossible enough, now they had to deal with this. An angel, a demon, and a human seemed like a pretty ragtag alliance against one of the most powerful forces predating history. Yet, to not put up a fight meant certain death for everyone and nothing would stop it.
"By the way," she added a moment later, as a second thought, "where the hell is God in all this? You'd think if his sister breaks out and starts trying to kill everything he's ever created he'd intervene, especially with the 'for God so loved the world' Bible verse everybody can't get enough of... Right?" Ellis gave a shrug; even to her, her hopes seemed dashed. After her father died when she was a child, she often stayed awake listening to her mother cry in the next room and and wondering why God (if there was one in the first place) would do such cruel things to people. It sort of made sense for him to sit back at a time like this and let them all suffer.

Lucifer chuckled bitterly. "Please, He didn't show up when Michael and I were going to destroy the world fighting each other, why would He now? God ditched Heaven a long time ago. He doesn't actively want his creations to suffer, but He won't lift a finger to stop it." he said dryly. He shook his head, eyes dark. "He demanded I love the humans more than Him, punished me for refusing, and now He's abandoned you all. Typical. He can't face what He had to do in order to create your kind... or any of His mistakes. He was never the same after we sealed His sister away."

She stopped herself from sympathizing or taking pity on him, which was probably what he was banking on. Ellis wouldn't give Lucifer that kind of satisfaction. Instead, she focused on the task at hand, working through in her mind the information she had collected so far and absently tapping her index finger on her lips. After a few seconds of silence, she spoke up again. "Wait a minute... If God wasn't the one who stopped you and Michael from destroying the planet, who was?" Whoever had, providing they were still alive, would be a pretty good ally to have against the Darkness if God himself wasn't going to show.

"That would be the Winchester boys, with a little help from yours truly. I'll fill you in later. Course, they're also the ones who released the Darkness just as they let Lucifer out to begin with. By accident on both counts, but still, those two are always getting themselves in trouble." Gabriel said with a small smirk. He shook his head. "I still can't believe the Darkness is our aunt and Dad couldn't even be bothered to tell us. Did He tell you Luci? What's the deal with you and her anyway? I doubt Mikey's versions of events were entirely accurate."

"I wouldn't call my release an accident... it was what Sam was born for. He can defy fate all he wants, but we'll always be connected and he can't change that. I won't argue with you over technicalities though." Lucifer said. He shrugged. "Michael doesn't know nearly as much as he thinks he does. Dad didn't exactly tell me Himself, I learned the truth from her. After Dad created the Mark as the lock and key to the Darkness' prison, he intrusted it to me. She can corrupt even the brightest of lights... it took time, but she was determined to get her revenge on her dear brother. Until she could enact it in person, she needed a proxy... Dad's actions only made her task easier. The rest is history." he replied nonchalantly. There was much more he wasn't saying, but he didn't feel like sharing at the moment.

"Well I think fate is a bullshit concept," Ellis decided, once again piping up after taking a second to calculate her next move. "So, what I'll do instead is find these Winchesters that seem to be so popular and see what they have to say about the Darkness." If they were truly the ones that released her, surely there was a way to undo it. And the Winchester boys were the key.

Lucifer chuckled softly. "Oh it's a very real thing... don't fool yourself human. True freedom is an illusion... the big picture will never change, but you can make choices that will alter the details. That's why fate never works out quite how anyone would expect." he said nonchalantly. He smirked. "Yeah... good luck with that. Those two don't know much of anything. You guys know more now than they do. Maybe they can help, or they'll make things worse. It's really up in the air at this point." he said, idly examining his fingernails.

"I hate to say it, but he's right kiddo. We should still find the boys though before they do screw up more." Gabriel commented. He glanced at his brother, folding his arms across his chest. "Oh come on, don't give us 'the rest is history' crap bro. I know there's more you aren't saying." he accused.
