She knew the hotel like the back of her hand. It had no secrets she already didn't know about, it was her playground when she was younger. It's red rum interior burned into her eyes. Red was a colour she knew all to well, but no matter how much she denied its power, it never tired her. It's retro design seemed to bring in customers. The hotel used to have many guests, they would come from all over, and she'd met many people who told her tales from their counties. She loved hearing about the world outside the red and golden walls of the hotel. It was both her home and prison. Every time someone walked in through those doors, she jumped at the chance to glance at the world outside before the door would finally shut. She'd seen all kinds of people. From models to the homeless. To the rich and fancy, to the rotten and vain.
"Don't they all taste the same?'" Iris, the manager had once asked her. No... they didn't. There was a different taste to each person. One could be filled with smoke, another drugs, and then you get the lively healthy ones. Her mother had a taste for the fancy and sophisticated ones, though it did depend on her mood. Her mother was the Countess Elizabeth, and the owner of the Hotel. Hotel wasn't really the right word for people like them. It was more like a web. They'd entice their prey inside, and then, like spiders, catch them. Darcy was against it at first, but knew it was the only way to survive. 'House-keeping' was her job, although, it meant something else to her. Once her mother lured and trapped her prey, she was usually get Darcy to deal with the mess, and feed on the left overs. Darcy hadn't actually killed anyone, oh no, she couldn't think of it. Her mother allowed her to feed on what was left after her own meal, and afterwards she cleaned up.
She watched from behind the sofa, as people came in through the doors and went over to the front desk, where Iris was waiting. Her head was popping up and down as she sneaked a few peeks at the new menu. She wondered where these people had come from, what they and why they came here. She was a curious thing, much to Iris's dismay, who was rather protective over the girl. She watched as Iris did her best to welcome them to the hotel... to the spiders web.
