Any trust Ellis had harbored for this girl had quickly been shattered. There was something she was holding back, something crucial, and if there was even the slightest chance it could help their current situation, Ellis had to find it out, because Harley was obviously not going to spill it. She let her take the keys and start the car. "Just drive," she commanded, letting her hand hover over where her gun rested, holstered at her hip.
"Do you know what the FBI does to people who don't cooperate? Who have information they need?" Ellis asked after a moment, seemingly by way of conversation. "Believe it or not, they don't kill them, not right away. They have tons of other methods." She glanced over at Harley to gauge her reaction.

Harley knew that there would be no amount of trust between the two of them. She wasn't looking to make friends. No, all she wanted to do was help rid the world of the darkness and maybe have a little fun along the way. If she was truly what a demon ought to be, she would have left Ellis for dead miles ago. But instead she was stuck with her little human complex and actually wanted to help these people. Putting the key in the ignition, she started the car before racing down the road. It was dead: no people, no cars, no darkness thankfully. Just a long winding road with open fields on either side and a sign that said five miles to the next town.
"FBI, huh?" Harley couldn't help but grin. She knew exactly what Ellis was hinting at. She would do whatever it would take to find out what Harley was keeping secret from her. Well, unless she wanted to fight her way out of hell just to come back here and be invisible to these things, her 'secret' wasn't all that helpful. "I'm not the only one hiding something. The gun, the lack of hesitance to kill? Or how about the fact you didn't run crying when you saw something regular people don't see everyday. You're not a cop, and you're sure as hell not a fed either."

Unbelievable. The speed in which Harley turned the spotlight onto her could have given her whiplash. Answering her question, no matter if she admitted that no, she wasn't officially FBI but she was a monster hunter with FBI training, or simply lied through her teeth, would only tip her off more, and she couldn't really risk it. And frankly, seeing Harley more smug than she was at the moment would probably piss her off again. So she decided to do a bit of her own deflection.
She gave the girl a long, flat look, quickly losing what inkling of patience still remained in her. "Does it matter?" Ellis asked, a rhetorical edge to her voice. "This isn't about me, Harley. We're talking about you right now." As she spoke, she didn't bother to hide the sheer irritation that made itself known in her voice and icy glare.

"I don't see either of us being honest to each other anytime soon." Harley was quick to shut down the conversation before it was turned around on her once again. But that didn't mean Ellis would positively loose her assertiveness. The longer this conversation went on, the more irritation she felt. This was the first time in a hundred years she had ever been caught red-handed. Keeping others from knowing what she was, was more than just a game to her. It was survival. She sure as hell wasn't going to let herself be caught up by any hunter.
She reached for the radio, turning up the knob to hear a station full of static. As she drove, she changed through the channels. Would there even be news reporting this kind of incident? She doubted a little town like this would even have any radio stations besides some old redneck talking about the harvest season. But she finally landed on something, some kind of interception with the police scanner. Turning it up, she didn't know much about their numbers and codes. But there was something that came up, making her smirk over at Ellis even if they weren't exactly friends at the moment.
"I-I I need backup!" A frantic voice shouted. "Calm down, what's the situation?" "I don't know what's going on.. they're.." He was cut off, and three gunshots rang through the radio. "What's your location? Hello?!" From one end there was screams: meanwhile, a female dispatcher's voice cut in. "He's at 384 South Lemont Road. County Line Hospital."

Ellis grudgingly let the subject drop for the time being. When Harley fumbled with the radio and found the scanner frequency, she sat forward, listening intently. After training and years listening in on scanners to find leads on cases while hunting, she was well versed in code. "This is bad," she muttered, mostly to herself. She glanced over at Harley. "Officer down, emergency situation. They're calling it mass homicide... Whatever's going on here is happening at that hospital too. That's our best bet of figuring out what the hell is going on." Her good hand reached for her gun and reloaded the magazine with bullets from her pocket, the bottoms etched with devil's trap symbols.

Well good thing we were headed there anyways, she thought sarcastically to herself. This situation was becoming more than she had anticipated. A mass homicide? They were trying to spread the infection, and spread it fast. What better way than to massacre an entire hospital. A part of her had to appreciate their ambition. "Do me a favor and try not to get yourself killed. It's no fun trying to end an apocalypse by yourself, and apparently I'm bulletproof to things these but you, not so much." She smirked, glancing over at the woman in the passenger seat. Her eyes settled on the custom bullets, and she quickly bit her tongue about the bulletproof remark.
She turned her attention back to the road, pressing harder down on the gas. At the speed they were going, it was only a matter of minutes before they were rolling up into the next town. She slowed, brows furrowing at the bodies which littered the streets. Some of them seemed blatantly dead: did these things also kill without the intent to spread the infection? Or those cops on the scanner had gotten a few kills in before being taken down. Either way, they were going to have to deal with the backup police that were called in. She stopped the car a bit down the road, as from there she could see the flashing lights of squad cars in front of the hospital. Idiots.

Ellis rolled her eyes at Harley's sarcastic remark. "Sure thing," she replied somewhat dryly. However, she couldn't shake the feeling of dread her words brought. Apocalypse? she thought. Is that what this has come to? If it was, she was no doubt totally unqualified to be handling this situation.
The flashing lights of the police cars were an obvious beacon, letting the two know that they had arrived at the hospital. She stepped out of the car as soon as it had stopped, pulling her gun and walking in the direction of the ambulance bay, the closest entrance. The automatic doors opened as she neared the entrance to reveal a stark white hallway littered with bodies and pools of dark blood. "Jesus," she muttered under her breath in shock. Ellis silently beckoned Harley to follow as she cracked the doors to each room open, looking for survivors.

(Sorry if I'm interrupting something. I just wanted to RP .) "Jesus had nothing to do with this kiddo." Gabriel commented, having appeared out of nowhere and was walking alongside the demon and the hunter as they investigated. Despite the grimness of the situation, he was eating a chocolate bar. Chocolate made everything better.

Ellis spun around at the new voice, lowering her gun in relief. One glance at his neck told her that he was not infected, not yet. His clothing suggested he wasn't a police officer, so perhaps he was a patient or a good samaritan who had rushed in to help. The chocolate bar, however, was unusual, atop his placid, nonchalant demeanor. Any civilian in this situation would have been losing their mind.
"I guess not, huh," she replied, glancing at the lifeless bodies on the floor around them. "Do you have any idea at all what's going on around here? It's just been a really weird afternoon for me."

Gabriel shrugged. "Long story short? They were infected by pure evil and it was too much for 'em. All that apocalyptic black smoke that rolled across the world a while ago? It's called the Darkness, and it's free again after being locked up since the beginning of time." he replied, not beating around the bush but also saying it a lot more casually than the situation warranted. It was his go to attitude when he didn't want to admit this was one of the few things that scared the crap out of him. He'd thought they'd seen the last of when they finally drove it back in that war so long ago... he should have known he wouldn't be so lucky.

Ellis pressed her hands to her temples, feeling the beginnings of a headache forming there, and took a minute to breathe. "Holy shit," she muttered. "This is way, way above my pay grade. I should not have to deal with this." Unfortunately, it seemed like she would have to deal with it, so she focused instead on surviving what was in front of her. "Wait a second," she added after a moment, looking up at him. "How do you know all of this? Who the hell are you?"

Gabriel chuckled. "Welcome to the big leagues! " he said lightly. He gave her his trademark smirk. "That depends on my mood and who you ask, but I guess there's no point hiding it these days. I'm Gabriel, the Archangel. At your service!" he replied with a purposely dramatic bow.

Ellis stared blankly at Gabriel, trying to decide whether or not she believed him. Normally, she would have said something sarcastic and walked away, but after the day's very abnormal events, there was no reason not to. People were walking around almost rabid, losing their minds with some kind of prehistoric evil zombie-disease, an archangel wouldn't be too far-fetched.
On the other hand, the man standing in front of her was anything but what she had pictured an angel, much less an archangel, to be like. The easy smile, the candy bar, and the carefree attitude didn't fit the angelic bill for her. Years of Catholic Sunday school as a child had instilled a completely different expectation in Ellis, and though she herself wasn't sure about the whole concept of God and angels, she definitely did not picture anything like that.
"Archangel," she said finally, nodding her head slowly. "Okay, I can roll with that. Got any ideas on how to fix all this?" Ellis gestured around her at the corpse-littered hallway. A few bodies were beginning to stir, covered in black veins.

Gabriel chuckled at her reaction to him. "I know, I know. I'm not what anyone expects when they think about angels. I chalk it up to centuries spent living as the Norse Trickster god Loki. Long story there. Anywho, all of this, it's actually a fairly easy fix. Problem is, it's everywhere. That's a whole lot of people to cure. And the Darkness itself? That is a whole different ball game. Let's not get ahead of ourselves." he said lightly. He produced a bottle of holy oil from nowhere and walked around pouring it in circles around the bodies of the poor suckers who were still alive, whistling Ring Of Fire to himself as he did so. Then he moved back and snapped his fingers, the holy oil igniting in flames. From the infected who were awake came animalistic screams of pain as the dark veins covering them appeared to burn right off, leaving them back to normal but extremely confused. The unconcious ones began stirring with soft groans, looking like they'd just woken from a bad nightmare. Which in a lot of ways they had.

As she watched the people burn and return to their dazed but alive state, Ellis' jaw dropped and she looked over at him. It was so simple, and yet no one else had thought of it. "Seriously?" she asked. "That's it? Just light 'em up with holy oil?" She frowned then, beginning to feel guilty for shooting the ones that had come after her earlier. She could have saved them. They could have been cured.
